Yes Man becomes Rambo
Dear fans,
Today the flying pig hasn’t been able to fly, since it’s raining in Shanghai. Also his big toes are bleeding below the nail on both the left and the right foot. He is expecting to be short of two big toe nails in approximately one week but let’s start from the beginning.
Yesterday, yours truly entered the men’s singles tournament. He advanced pretty easily from the first round and stayed to play a little bit with the people hanging around. Since his shoes were a little bit to big he realized that it hurt a bit in his feet and when he took them off, he saw that the big toe nails where bleeding and today it’s even worse and he cannot walk without pain. The worst thing is that it’s raining which makes it impossible to fly. And all this is because he watched a movie a couple of days ago called Yes Man. So when the badminton team asked him if he was free on sunday, he answered yes. Then they asked him if he had time to go to the main campus, once a again he replied Yes. Then they asked him to be at the bus stop on sunday morning at 7 o’clock and the flying pig replied no problems (since he has been waking up before 7AM every single morning since he arrived to Shanghai). Then they said that he would join them and play badminton against the main campus as a celebration of the anniversairy of the universities BBS. Now the flying pig was beginning to change his mind, but it was already to late, because of the stupid YES movie. With an injurured knee and two bleeding toes he got up at 6 o’clock in the morning and headed off to the bus stop. 2 hours later they arrived at the main campus. The badminton team that knew that the flying pig had some problems with his knee was kind enough to let the pig only participating for the Jiading Campus in the men’s doubles. So with a new partner, English name Robin and Chinese nickname something with Fat (because he was pretty fat) they teamed up against the best double players from the Siping Campus. After warming up for about half an hour, the knee was ok but the toes had seen better days. Anyways, the flying pig has watched all the Rambo movies and know that you can endure any kinds of pain by pure will. 3 sets later the toes were in an even worse condition and a new injury appeared on his right knee since he threw himself in the final set. Sadly they lost that ball, but still leading 20-19 and managed to win the match in the following ball in the decisive set. The score line written to 22-20, 13-21, 21-19. Strangely the captain of our Jiading campus lost the men’s first single just afterwards. Apparently he is pretty famous around here, since he was participating for Tongji University last year and traveled around China playing other universites and he ended up number 6 in China.
After the captain’s defeat, our campus also lost the women’s doubles before winning the mixed doubles and then loosing both women singles and 2nd men’s doubles. After that the men’s 2nd singels couldn’t finish, since some lady came and took down all the nets, because the time was up and the indoor football team would use the Colisum (don’t know what kind of Chinese-English translation they used, but that’s what it says outside the sports center on the main campus). So you could say that our campus lost big time, but at least the flying pig is still unbeaten in competition games. Tomorrow he probably has to play Rambo again and endure some more pain, since the small badminton tournament among the Jiading campus students will not finish until the finals, next sunday.
